The
Notice of Intended Marriage asks for your Usual
Occupation.
What that means is What is your job? So write in
your actual job, not the industry or function. Most
often this will be your job title,
so,
Administrative Assistant rather than
Administration,
Salesperson rather than
Sales. If
you’re retired, you need to say retired what, eg
Retired
Public Servant. If you’re a stay-at-home parent,
it is
Home Duties.
It is quite common for people to change jobs between
lodging the Notice of Intended Marriage and getting
married. It is fine to have different occupations on
these two documents because each is a snapshot in time.
